Jeannine
Erhardt & Roy Josias opened The Good
Egg in Derby on Labor Day weekend in 2002. Located in
Derby on the Green, The Good Egg was an instant success!
The loyal residents of the Valley spread the word and
a star was borne.
Within the first year of the opening, The Good
Egg received notice from a chain restaurant in Arizona (also
The Good Egg) and, for legal reasons, we had to change our
name. So Jeannine held a contest for the customers to come
up with an original name. Hundreds of suggestions were given
and we narrowed it down to an entry submitted by our dear friend
Kenny Montlick of Shelton. Our new name would be /Breakfast
on the Green/.
Some would say the circumstances were unfortunate,
however, we received much press in the Connecticut Post and
New Haven Register which brought in many new customers. The
minor inconvenience was well worth it!
Soon we added a lunch menu and it became popular....quickly!
As our business and client base grew, it seemed our dining
room shrunk. And so it was time to leave our 'home' in Derby
and cross the bridge to Ansonia.
We are settled in our beautiful new building
in the heart of downtown Ansonia and are loving our new neighborhood.
The response to this venture has been so positive and supportive;
we are truly blessed.
Cafe Taste not only features the favorites
from our original breakfast and luncheon menus but we are open
in the evenings with a full bar, dinner specials and live entertainment
as well.
Cafe Taste also offers on-premise & off-premise
catering by our catering company "A Tasteful Affair".
Call us to customize your special occasion.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
